Our team operates our bright blue "Collection Booths" on target beaches on Windward Oahu where microplastics are present. Equipped with our "sifters", measuring and processing equipment, and funds for dispersal, BBM staff encourages beachgoers to sift the sand for polluting microplastics in exchange for a small cash "bounty" - similar to the "5-cent" recycling programs for cans and bottles found in many states across the USA!
BBM staff sorts acquired microplastic materials both at our Collection Booths, and off-site at our headquarters for upcycling manufacturing into sustainable products, distribution to partners for use in artistic and academic projects, or for environmentally conscious disposal.
We invest in and maintain our relationships with our regular Beach Bounty collectors, our private and public charitable donors, and academic and government entities working to solve microplastic contamination. Through this chain of community engagement, we aim to continue expanding the reach of Beach Bounty, which we hope will include you!
